i meant to post this last week but forgot

i meant to post this last week but forgot...so Cinderella Man was a great flick. the feel good movie of the year and it didn't star Cuba Gooding Jr. although, after reading Max Baer's bio on wikipedia, i gotta say, that guy got a really really rough portrayal in the movie." A ring tragedy little more than a year later almost caused him to drop out of boxing for good. Baer fought Frankie Campbell (brother of Brooklyn Dodgers Hall Of Famer Adolph Camilli) on August 25, 1930 in San Francisco and knocked him out. Campbell never regained consciousness. After lying on the canvas for nearly an hour, Campbell was finally transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he eventually died of extensive brain hemorrages. An autopsy revealed that Baer's devastating blows had knocked Campbell's entire brain loose from the connective tissue holding it in place within his cranium. This fatality shocked Baer; according to his son, Max Baer, Jr., he cried and had nightmares over the incident for decades afterwards. He was charged with manslaughter. Although he was eventually acquitted of all charges, the California State Boxing Commission still banned him from any in-ring activity within their state for the next year. He gave purses from succeeding bouts to Campbell's family, but lost four of his next six fights. He fared better when Jack Dempsey took him under his wing, and Baer put Campbell's children through college."ummm, the movie didn't really paint it that way..."In 1933, he boxed Max Schmeling (with a Star of David embroidered on his trunks [1], which he swore to wear in every bout thereafter) at Yankee Stadium, dominating the rugged German fighter into the tenth round when the referee stopped the match.Because he defeated Hitler's favorite, and had a Jewish father, he became a hero to the Jewish people, although he was raised Catholic (his mother's faith)."jeez, there should be a movie about him! regardless...the movie was a great one.a real upper.

Google buys stake in AOL

Google buys stake in AOL. AOL's premium video service will be included in Google Video searches, GoogleTalk will be allowed to communicate with AIM users, and AOL's graphical (as opposed to Google's text only) ads will now appear in Google's ad service. Interesting.

kuh-razy dream

so you'd think after finishing all my finals and stuff i'd be relieved and would have a great night's sleep filled with dreams of super powers, rock stardom, and threesomes, but instead i had a really restless night followed by my first anxiety dream about graduating. it was weiiiird.in it, we (the guys....me, matt, casey, jordan, damon, chris, steve) weren't graduating but were just going into our senior year after this year. the thing was we were moving out of the house, like it was the standard thing to do. first we had the lottery to see who got who's old room and jordan hanson got my room. then the new "Seniors" went and got our new room on campus. it was a small room with four bunkbeds that were aligned with like 3 feet between them, yet for some reason we were all wicked psyched. we were acting like we hit the rooming jackpot.so we start to gradually move our shit over there, little by little. the problems started when i brought my computer over but forgot my monitor, so i had to borrow an adapter cable from matt to hook itup to jordan's small TV temporarily. as i was getting that working, everybody left. once i got it working i was all pissed because the resolution was obviosuly wicked low, then i couldn't find a place to even put the TV and computer. then i was like, shit i had a lot more space to do my hw and stuff in my old room. and shit i dont have any real privacy here. how am i supposed to bring a girl back here or something? wait a second, this room sucks! it's like army barracks, what the fuck?? and that's when i wondered if it would it be a dick move to tell jordan hanson that i'm just going to stay in the house this year? i have the right to renew my lease right? why are any of us moving out anyways?at that point i'm suddenly at a red sox game. still in the bunk bed. on the field. but like on the side along the wall. and it's not that weird because there are all these benches and shit on the field where people are sitting. and i see jordan and phillip sitting a few rows away, but i can't seem to get there attention. i dont want to leave the bed to get them because i know someone will take my spot. i mean who wouldn't wanna watch a baseball game from a bunkbed on the field right? there was a weird side point at this point where i see a leatherhead rest to a car, i think a lexus, on the grass under the bed. i consider taking it and selling it because i think i'm really low on cash in the dream, but i see a bug on it and realize it's probably got maggots underneath and shit, so i leave it alone. don't know what that part means. at this point i arch my head to see the big screen to see who's playing and waht the score is but the sun is in my eyes. then i look in the other direction and see that it's the yankees and i see the green monster and we're behind 3 to 1. then the red sox start hitting like crazy and the balls keep narrowly missing my head. i still can't get jordan's attention but i see one row away brian, adam and another kid from donovan elementary who i hadn't seen in forever. i go up to them and tell them my predicament. and they bring me back to reality, telling me that i'm not going to be a senior...i'm going to graduate...and i have to leave. at this point i wake up and see my awesome room and realize i'm not going to have a room this cool for awhile. i won't have a bunk bed in barracks but i'll certainly have a tiny new york bed room. man, that hit me hard...not a fun way to wake up let me tell you. i was also freezing which didn't help.
